Privacy Policy
A short, plain account of what the site collects and why.
Last updated: 15 October 2026
Who we are
Whatever Matters is run by Chalkmeout Inc., a Delaware C-corp, from this website and the newsletter at blog.wmrayn.com.
This page explains what we collect when you visit the site or subscribe, and what we do with it.
What we collect
Your email address, when you choose to subscribe to the newsletter.
Basic usage data, such as which pages and posts you read, roughly where you are, and which browser or device you use.
Anything you send us on purpose, such as an email or the details in a booking link.
How we use it
To send the newsletter to people who asked for it.
To reply when you get in touch.
To understand which writing is read and which is not, so the site can get better.
Tools we rely on
Substack handles the newsletter and your subscription.
Google Analytics and the LinkedIn Insight Tag help us measure traffic.
Spotify and YouTube embeds may set their own cookies when you play an episode.
Cookies
These tools place small text files on your device to remember simple things, like whether you have seen a banner or played a clip.
You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings. The site still works, though some embeds may not load.
Who else sees it
We do not sell your data.
We share it only with the services above, and only to do the job they are there for.
How long we keep it
A subscription stays until you unsubscribe. A message stays as long as we need it to be useful to you.
Ask us and we will remove what we hold about you.
Your choices
Every newsletter email has an unsubscribe link.
You can ask to see, correct or delete the details we hold about you.
If you are in the EU or UK, you also have the rights your local law gives you.
Changes
We may update this page as the site changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
